Pasqualeta was the widow of Gil Civera, a butcher and citizen of Barcelona, who had died a little more than two years earlier, in October of 1388. Following his death, Pasqualeta took possession of his goods on the grounds that his estate was indebted to her for the amount of the dowry that she had brought into marriage, and compiled an inventory of his estate, which may be found in the DALME corpus. At the outset of this act, the notary indicates that a part of Gil's goods had already been sold at public auction to the highest bidders, although the sum raised did not completely satisfy the debt owed by the estate to his widow. Since Pasqualeta wished to take a new husband, she decided to request an official appraisal of the remaining goods. The appraisal was carried out by two sworn criers (curritores publici), Pere Castell and Bernat Cadireta. The total value of the remaining goods in the estate came to 23 pounds of Barcelona.
