This inventory was drawn up for Ellen Stiward, a member of a peasant or agriculturalist family, as she approached death. She left legacies to her two daughters, Katherine and Margery Whytt, and empowered her husband Philip Whytt and her son John to dispose of her goods as they saw fit. Edited by Henry F. Berry in Register of Wills and Inventories of the Diocese of Dublin, The Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland Extra Volume for 1896-1897 (Dublin: The University Press, 1898), 1-2.
