Jacques de Nulley was a master mason who worked extensively for the duke of Burgundy. He was one of the principal craftsmen at the Charterhouse of Champmol and the Sainte-Chapelle, which explains the nickname by which he was also known: Jaques le Maçon. Curiously, the inventory was drawn up in two stages. A few documents were inventoried, though very few given the man's standing and compared with what is found in many other contemporary inventories from the city.
