This inventory was drawn up at the request of Lunardo, the brother of Paolo Morosini quondam Ursati. Paolo was a member of the Morosini family, one of the most important patrician families in Venice, and the inventory was probably compiled after his death. The twelve-page document describes the contents of a house located somewhere in the city, although its exact location is not mentioned. The interior of the house was lavishly stocked and decorated with jewelry, rings with gemstones (diamonds, emeralds, and rubies), objects such as candlesticks made of silver and gold, mirrors, furniture, books, and fabrics and clothing made of wool and silk. This inventory is one of several that together provide exquisite descriptions of Venetian luxury in the sixteenth century. A complete series of similar documents dating from the 1520s onward can be found in the Archivio di Stato di Venezia.
