Beatrix Ruffe appears in court and explains that her husband Arnulphus Ruffi, a carpenter, died intestate, leaving their children without a guardian. The children are Johannetus, age 18; Catherineta, the wife of Bertrandus Bedoyni, age 22; Dalfineta, age 8; Bertrandeta, age 4; and Bartholomayreta, age 8 months. She requests permission to appoint a guardian and to make an inventory of the estate. Beatrix is assigned as guardian, and her son Johannetus also makes an appearance. The inventory is extensive and includes the tools in the workshop of Arnulphus.
