This act records an inventory of the fortress in the village of Allauch, situated in the foothills about 12 kms to the northeast of the city of Marseille. The inventory was created when control of the fortress was passed to two rentiers, Johannes Benedicti and Alsiarius Bausani of the city of Marseille. The two men evidently traveled out to Allauch to undertake the ceremonial taking of possession, and to make sure their legal needs were taken care of, they brought along with them a distinguished Marseille notary named Guillelmus Barbani, who made the act. Upon their arrival in Allauch, they were met by Raymundus Bodonis, canon of the cathedral church of La Major. Raymundus initiated the ceremonial act of using the key to open and lock the great gate, the sign that the two noblemen had formally taken real and corporal possession of the fortress. The two were also given 25 bushels of wheat and other supplies, along with all the things identified in the inventory prepared by the notary.
